Sport Injuries

When we are slowed down, or are unable to participate in our favorite activities because of an sports injury, it can be extremely difficult. Life is short, and we want to play hard. At InHealth Chiropractic we understand that concept, and have created a sports medicine center that will help you get back to the activities you enjoy, in the shortest amount of time.

Dr. Kevin Rindal’s sports chiropractic experience of working with elite athletes allows him to bring the same cutting edge treatments to his patients on a daily basis. Professional and Olympic level athletes need to get back to their sport as soon as possible so that they can continue with their profession. Our patients get the same level of service and expertise for their sports injury rehabilitation.

Here are some common questions about our sports injury program within our Sports Medicine Center.

What type of sports injuries can you help with?

We can help with a wide variety of sports injuries, and will always search for answers beyond pain medication and rest. Please visit Conditions We Treat to find out more information. Although rest is often an important aspect in recovering from an injury, we will work with you to find cross training options so that you can continue to maintain your fitness while rehabilitating your injury through sports chiropractic. In addition, we work closely with a variety of healthcare providers to ensure you receive the most comprehensive care available.

I thought chiropractors only helped with sore backs. What makes InHealth different?

Dr. Rindal has obtained advanced post graduate training in extremity joint (ie- ankles, elbows, knees etc.) chiropractic adjusting along with treatment of the soft tissues (ie- muscles, ligaments, tendons etc.). Chiropractors specialize in joints and the structures that support them. When you are dealing with a sports injury, you first want to try a conservative treatment approach that gets you back to participating in the lifestyle that you enjoy in the shortest amount of time. Dr. Rindal is a perfect option as his expertise covers a variety of sports injuries and he understands the demands of an active lifestyle.

What is Active Release Technique (ART)? Why do I keep hearing about it?

Active Release Technique® (ART) is rapidly becoming the treatment of choice for athletic and repetitive stress injuries. Myofascial adhesions often develop following either a specific traumatic event to muscle and/or soft tissue, or through repetitive damage to these tissues over time. As myofascial adhesions develop, if left untreated, they can lead to: painful muscle tissue, “entrapment” of peripheral nerves or blood vessels, or alteration of the normal biomechanics of the spine and extremities. Since muscles, ligaments and tendons stabilize joints, myofascial adhesions can cause less flexibility in these structures and alter normal joint biomechanics. This can lead to other structures becoming over-used and injured, as they have to compensate for the primary injury. It is important to treat the underlying cause first and then the compensation so that normal biomechanics and joint motion can be restored. Some of the common conditions that ART® providers treat are:

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Iliotibial Band Syndrome

“Runner’s Knee”

Plantar Fascitiis

Tension Headaches

Chronic low back pain

Frozen Shoulder

Rotator Cuff Injury
